To Dominic's question about the situation, the dark-haired man raises his eyebrow. 

"What situation?"

He doesn't seem very happy about having strangers around.

"If you go around beating those harpies up, you're already helping us out."

After a group of completely new and foreign individuals arrives, word spreads quickly and the mountain villagers eventually form a cluster around them, wondering what's up with them. The man who acted as the group's guide just stands aside with both of his arms crossed as if he has nothing to do with it.

Munenori looked at Okuni to see who would handle the situation. He sure as hell wasn't letting the high master do it.

Dominic would smile as he looks upon the new people interested in them. He gives them all a greeting, and turns to inspect all of them that approach.

Some of the people smile back at Dominic, and then more join in and a happy atmosphere begins to spread.

A blonde-haired girl steps to the front, an annoyed expression on her face as she looks between the group and the dark-haired man.

"Hmm? I am just greeting everyone. We had a trek to get here so might as well chill out and enjoy the atmosphere. It is far better than attempting to go north right now at least. The giants are dangerous people."

The girl's eyes widen with curiosity.

"Really? No wonder you look so strange."

Her expression quickly changes into a broad smile.

"I'm Mari. Nice to meet you."

She inches closer to Yagyu and inspects him more closely.

"So, where are you from? You look..."

She concentrates a bit, trying to figure out if she'd ever seen someone like him before.

"From far away, I assure you. We have come from the east and done all the travel to here."

"We are from far away, but have come to assist those here and fix the damage that has been done. Our group has many from different places, but have all come together for the cause of saving places like here. So Mari, what can you tell me about your village? How long has it been here?"

Mari turns to Dominic.

"And your skin!"

She eyes him with great curiosity and excitement, her face only a few inches from the side of his.

"You're so dark!"

Her personality is the complete opposite from how she first appeared. She just seems like a very happy person.

"This village has been here for um.. a few months, I think. I haven't been keeping count since we split off from our tribe."

"If you please allow us to know, why did you split off from them? Did you disagree or something?"

"Yes, I am not from here. Where I came from many people looked like this. Perhaps it could be considered a blessing from the sun as without skin like this, we would be damaged by it since we lived in a desert." He would think for a moment as he wonders if they even knew what a desert was.... maybe the auto translate will help with that.... or maybe not. "A place with a lot of sun and sand. It can be very hard to live out there." He would not mind the distance she was at currently. He was worried if the drugs would wear off while he was here he might not be able to re-apply them without being noticed... but it should be fine. Probably. He would look to Mari with his golden eyes as he spoke "We would be interested in knowing how you all survived this long and why you split off from your tribe. This region seems to be in a large state of conflict, and it is just nice to see more people who seems to be safe"

"A desert, huh?"

Mari puts both arms behind her back and links her hands.

"As for why we left, ah.. the serpent made it harder to live there, so.."

The dark-haired man standing a good distance away from everyone shoots her a look and she quickly backtracks.

"That's how it is!"

She grins again.

"Hmm? Well the Serpent is gone now. As are the Romans I believe. The main threats are still the dragons and the giants though. You all seem relatively safe there." He would shoot the dark haired man a smile, friendly yet also watching. "How do you keep yourselves safe from the harpies in these mountains?"

"It's hard. Sometimes they attack us, but we're protected from above, so most of the time, things go well."

Mari joins Dominic in smiling at the young man watching them, even though she must know him well.

"But isn't it really incredible? You talk about everything like it's nothing, but these are some pretty crazy things to hear."

"Well. This is not the first place we have assisted. We had to fight golems and armies in the last location we were at, and the one before that had a giant tentacle monster. This one has more creatures in it and is more dangerous, but that is only to be expected now. It is hard, but it is also our job and purpose." He nods as if it was obvious "Wait how are you protected from above?" he looks up around a bit, briefly his eyes falling on where the white tower is, before returning to Mari

"We just are. That's how it's always been. I guess it's something foreigners can't understand."

Mari is much more interested in talking more about Dominic's travels. She doesn't seem to have any worry about coming on too strongly to people.

"What was your name again?"

"Dominic. Huh, yea I do not really understand how you would just be safe from the sky. I am the inquisitive type sometimes~" he teases a bit "From where I came from, we had built a massive underground maze to protect ourselves from those above, but I escaped because I wanted to travel more."

Meanwhile, Munenori would attempt to collect more information about the tribe and its customs, speaking to the natives, catching their attention, and seeing what he could gather from their life style.

After Yagyu asks around, some of the villagers give him a small tour through their place. The handful of buildings the village consists of are simple stone structures with only one room inside, where a fireplace is placed at the center of the wall.

In total, there's only about fifteen people living here. There's a total of two goats and three chicken in the village and they all roam freely.

The people are very pious in their belief in the Germanic gods and goddesses, and especially worship one called Veleda, a goddess that's supposedly still alive.

"I don't blame you. I get really excited when I learn about new things too!"

The blonde girl still smiles brightly. 

"I've never heard about people living underground, but it sounds really interesting!"

An older man approaches the pair. He seems to be Mari's father. 

"It looks like I have to go for a while. We're all eating dinner together tonight. Will you join us?"

Munenori thanks them for their hospitality, and so reports his findings to the team.

It seems their main goddess would be a so called 'Velada', which still draws breath. Any of you know anything about this 'Velada'?

"Sure~ Talking with you all has been very interesting, I would love to join you for dinner. I shall see what else I can do around the village as well. Just let me know if you need anything specific." hmm... let me think on that as I work

Should I also investigate this village ? I hardly see anything of interest at the moment

Walk among the people and socialize a bit, but don't go threatening them much. They seem to be rather simple and not exactly ready to praise you as a god or royalty. They have a special protection that may be useful to us and we still need to investigate the tower.... well maybe not need to, but I want to.

I believe we should gather our forces, and see if we can gain an audience with 'Velada'. If their claims are true, and due to the nature of the Singularity I'm willing to believe in them, then a goddess is either an ally that Chaldea could have on its side, or an enemy that must be neutralized. In either case, she must be secured.

Dom, do not worry I do not intend to purposely frighten any of these Humans. "I should also thank you all for your courteous hospitality and invitation."

At Orochi's thanks, Mari turns back from making her way over to her home.

"No problem!"

She waves at him and leaves.

Velada seems to be from a German fairy tale. I am not too familiar with these Germanic things off the top of my head, especially not when the history is as warped as it is. We can learn more from them directly eventually I suspect, no sense bothering Da Vinci with this.

I see. Let's not push the subject however, make it casual and off-handedly. I suspect asking for where their main deity is might attract unwanted attention, specially when she isn't nowhere to be found in person.

Over the next hours that pass by, the group becomes more familiarized with the village. 

They learn that they left the tribe after Surtr had already manifested through Boudica's daughter and become the Bructeri chieftain, and that they did so with her blessing. 

The village is compromised entirely of families, with ages ranging from very young to people in their fifties. 

Besides the dark-haired man the group met, only a few others seem skilled with weaponry.

By the time evening comes, dinner has been prepared. Mari's family made gruel for everyone. It's a very simple dish that doesn't compare to Chaldea's cooks, but just from looking at it, it's evident Mari's family put a lot of heart into it.

The tribes people gather to eat their meals in a grass, sitting in a circle formation.

"Here you go!"

Mari hands out the meal one by one.

"Oh, you really did stay!"

When she sees Chaldea's group, she smiles.

Dominic would return the smile with a bit of strain. He needed to re-up soon. The effects were fading. He was doing his best to keep that positive vibe the uppers provided, but without the chemical stimulant still circulating in his body, it was a lot harder. "Thank you."

Naomi would gladly accept the meal from Mari. Thanking her for this meal, after all. She wasn't expecting anything grand. It is a miracle they were even willing to part them food "Thank you miss. You are quite kind"

"Don't mention it, don't mention it!"

Mari happily shares their meal with the foreign newcomers. 

Eventually, the young man they first ran into joins in, storing some of the congee in a container and placing it in a leather bag. From the looks of it, he's about to head out of the village despite how late it is.

"You heading out somewhere? At this time of night? You doing patrol or something?" he would ask as he helped clear stuff up after the meal. At this point his eyes had grown hard and tired, the effects of his stabilizer full gone. There was an almost perpetual glare as he looked at the man

Munenori partook on the meal. It wasn't food for a noble samurai, but it was a gift nontheless, it would've been far too rude just to let it go to waste. He was keenly aware of the young man that shall go out, hearing for his possible answer.

Orochi sat down and drank some Tea

"There's someone I'm taking this to."

He doesn't give Dominic another glance, simply continuing what he was doing.

Mari puts both of her arms behind her back. "Don't mind him. He's never been good with people."

"So who is this someone that he is taking it to?"

Though, another thing that catched his interest was... how relatively calm Orochi was through the travel, things considered. He had murdered the harpies in a brutal fashion, yet was not sitting drinking tea like it was less than nothing. Nothing wrong with that, for Yagyu that should be how a proper warrior conducts themselves. Yet... Is this really the great God of Calamity that cursed the earth and roamed the mountains, right beside him? It seemed... no, it was unreal, to see him so calm. ... Unnecessary thoughts, he ended up believing. Orochi, kami or not, was his ally. The matter did not need more consideration.

"He's taking it to our seer," Mari answers, referring to their goddess. "She can't just join us, so someone has to bring food for her."

The young man ignores her interjection, but he appears to be annoyed by how chatty she is.

"Oh, I see." She replied before continuing on her meal. Still, she shared the same sentiment as Munemori. It was quite strange sharing a meal with a kami. And not just any Kami. The very same kami that Susanoo no Mikoto, the god of storms slew through trickery was here. There was a reason why she never revealed who it was her family worshipped. Part of being a shrine maiden was knowing the kami's attitude. And some of them can be ill tempered. He has cursed Koga Saburou after all..

"When you see your seer, tell her we would like to have a word with her. Any divinities in the area could be of assistance in dealing with the current threats. There is too much on the line for us to not try." Dominic said coldly "I need to take a moment. Naomi or one of the others can handle it if I am not around" He rubbed his face a bit. His antipathy towards people was getting worse. He just looked at them and saw horrible people waiting to happen. Humans couldn't be trusted with anything, let alone saving humanity. He walked off on his own as he pulled out his alchemy kit and began getting to work making his next dose of stabilizers

She cannot help but notice that expression on Dominic was slowly changing, into something she is not entirely familiar with. As much as she wanted to see what it was about. She has to remain here with the servants, as the other remaining master.

Okuni had kept quiet, accepting the food with a smile as she listens closely to the story. Their seer, she thought for a instant. Deities did not actually eat, food was mostly a respectful gift for them... But it could also serve as a way to sustain one with magical energy. "A deity who can't leave a specific spot..." She thought to herself. She stared at Orochi for a instant. He would be such a kind of Divine Spirit. A sealed Aramitama of a previously Great God. But normally, a Divine Spirit's presence was always within their believers. A temple only serves as a way to bond the Divine Spirit to the land.

The young man leaves without reacting to Dominic's request, but it's clear he heard him.

Mari sits next to Orochi, her own meal in hand. "Don't want to eat anything?"

Orochi would turn to look at Mari as a put down his cup speaking in a polite voice "I'm sorry but I am currently fasting, I am happy to just have some simple Tea for now."

Off on his own, Dominic quickly puts together a liquid injection solution. He didn't have time to form any pills with magecraft, he would need the effects quickly so it was a little sloppy. As he hit the button on his injector and the needle pierced his skin and injected the alchemical concoction into his veins, he felt a sort of relief as it hit his magic circuits and soothed his inner rage. Things seemed to slow down, then speed up. The numbers he saw became distorted and warped. Not good, but too late and he didn't have the time to get an antidote. Work with it... work with it... ignore the hallucinations...

Back at the small village that split off from the Bructeri tribe, the group can unwind after they successfully retrieved Veleda's globe-like orb.

Veleda is leaning against one of the stone houses, shying away from the villagers while they prepare the nightly meal. Both of her hands are behind her back, holding the lightly shimmering orb.

As usual, Brinno is staying nearby but just distant enough to not draw any particular attention to himself.

Mari isn't helping prepare the meal this time. She's staying near the bonfire in the village's center, warming herself on it by herself. #〚🌄｜bonfire

Dominic had finished with his report to Da Vinci and would head over to go meet up with Veleda, seeing how she was doing before checking on the others. L'Oro was off somewhere napping while SimuDom was assisting with meal prep and Griffon was assisting with keeping watch. "You have the orb right? Have you found it to be undamaged and working right?"

Orochi state clearly with an honest tonne, he thought it best not to revert to his =original from at this moment in time. "Just picture a large snake with multiple heads, and then think much larger"

"That's not a bad idea." Slowly, a smile dawns on Veleda's solemn face. "You're very kind, Dominic. And you're smart, too. If you lived here, I'm sure the tribe would have been happy to have you be a part of it."

The drugs keep me stable when I need to give my mind a break from regulating the psychosis. If I don't.... I get dangerous thoughts in my head like 'humans are trash and not worth the effort. Maybe we are better off dead.' and as a Master of Chaldea, I cannot afford to allow those thoughts to linger. I am probably a kind person at heart, despite never receiving kindness for the majority of my life. The world is a harsh and cold place if you cannot find the pockets of warmth in other people." There is a tired and distant look in Dominic's eyes as he says this, he was only 24, but he felt much older. "You are all good people. "Oh I see so that is your reasoning, much more of a softy than I thought Brinno. I doubt anyone here has that thought anyways, they are all much too light-hearted to have that impression left behind."

"I would like that. We can always simply talk and have some tea again. And who knows, perhaps me learning the knowledge you posses was part of the grand plan by the cosmos or whichever god has decided to weave our fates. Maybe this is all according to plan. I generally do not believe in paradoxes, that just goes against the logic of the world. Let's go, Griffon can take us up. L'Oro is taking a nap." he would look over and give a slight wave to Griffon to head over to them Orochi, I'm heading back to the Tower with Veleda. Let Brinno know "honestly... even if I should get trapped with you here for whatever reason, I do not think I would dislike it." Dominic gave a passing thought as to some consequences of witnessing what makes Veleda known as a goddess to her people.

Veleda gets on the griffon and is ready to start flying, this time much more adept at mounting it than the first. "Are you certain?" She makes an apologetic face at his last comment. "I don't mind it, but most people don't really like being alone." @StarryCleric

After the attack, two villagers are injured and one has died. The house of Mari's parents where meals for the village have always been prepared in has taken damage too. 

After a scary and exhausting evening for its inhabitants, the mountain village has become quiet again while its people try to fix what they can.

Martha was laying her back on one of the nearby trees as she sighed as she was tired from the battle itself. She took part, fought. Took many hits. Although it didn't reached her physically, it still struck her and she felt the adrenaline slowly die over. The young frail girl was breathing heavily.

SimuDom was assessing damages and seeing what could potentially be done for Chaldea to assist in repairs of the village, or if it would be better to look for a new location for the villagers all together.

L'Oro was off napping again somewhere. He caught big rocks today and did a good job

As the dust settled, and everything calmed down, Munenori too took a moment to rest. His expression and spirit was unmoved, but in true, he came very close to taste death again. He remembered what he wrote once... 'It is easy to slay a man with a sword stroke, it is hard to not be slain in turn'. Now it was truer that before. But they prevailed, they had survived, and the villagers were mostly safe, that was what mattered.

Dominic was briefly assessing th Villager's safety and doing some minor healing magic on the injured ones before he would return to Veleda to see how she was holding up from this event "How are you doing?"

Panting, the dual wielding Saber would withdraw his blades from the deceased giant, flicking blood off of both at the same time. However, he sheathed his offhand first, rotating the sword in his left hand and stretching it outwards with the blade pointed to be stored within the scabbard on his waist in one fell motion. As for his main katana, he picked up the scabbard which had been cast aside for but a desperate moment when Saito had rejoined the fight. The blade then met the scabbard as well, though this time said sheathed sword would rest in his left hand. “Whew…that was quite the hassle.” Saito commented to himself with a small smile before looking to Munenori. “How are you holding up? You look like you took quite a bashing.”

While Dominic was helping the villagers, Veleda has been staying in the back to avoid drawing attention to herself. She's been coasting by since the Chaldeans are all mysterious arrivals too, but she doesn't want to lie about herself.

When Dominic returns to the place he last saw her, hiding behind a tree on the outskirts of the village, she's gone.

The pointed heel-shape indicating her foot tracks lead off towards the higher mountains.

Dominic would sigh and look over to make sure SimuDom had the place held down well enough. He would give a bit of a whistle for L'Oro to take flight as he begins to follow her trail on the land. The false dragon grumpily gets up from his nap and heads into the sky, keeping watch from above just in case

"What are you doing up there?" Mari calls out to Martha from below the tree. "If you need to sleep, you can just use our beds." @Ma|Resur|Anastasia|King| C

"Oh. Miss Mari! How are the villagers?" She asks curiously once Mari calls out to her.

Munenori said, and while it could be constructed as saving face, it could be also be his way of saying 'I'm fine'. "Can't say the same about you it seems, not a single scratch. I must say, seeing up close your swordsmanship from up close is certainly amusing. Your technique is nothing short of immaculate."

@Thunder - LS | ED | DO | HT - jump ”Not single scratch? Hey, the whole reason I didn’t come sooner was because of the bite one of those bird things gave me. Thought I lost use of my left arm and wanted to be sure I could still use it before I came in like I did.” He laughed with a grin. “Regardless, I appreciate the compliment. You’re no slouch yourself. Hell, the only reason I assume you’re so bashed up is because you brought the fight to them. Can’t get grievous wounds from fleeing or sitting far back…though, I guess those boulders do seem like they would’ve hurt should they have collided with me.” Fujita rotated his left shoulder, trying to see if it was still fine to operate and the like.

"Hmmm, but that is not ideal. A true swordsman should be able to slay their enemy without coming themselves to harm. It seems that not even in this Servant container I can quite reach the peaks I once spoke of." He looks at his hand for a moment, alongside his katana...

@Yagyu Tajima-no-kami Munenori (@Thunder - LS | ED | DO | HT) - jump After checking on his shoulder and stopping, the “younger” Saber looks to the “older” one. “Yeah, would be nice to get out of battles unscathed. Though, you can’t get there without a few mishaps and trial runs on the way, eh?” Saito smiled, attempting to cheer up Yagyu should he be down or anything of the sort. “The fact we are…well, alive in a way, means we can continue to strive for that goal. Until then, just gotta keep working.”

"Hahaha" It appear Yagyu finds Hajime's demeanor amusing as well "To be a swordsman of your capabilities, you speak as if you didn't knew all for that already. I would even confuse you for a newbie. But I can tell it in your eyes. Yes, I can see it just frol having you in front of me." He said, having now an interest of the trenchcoat Saber.

"Oh. Miss Mari! How are the villagers?" She asks curiously once Mari calls out to her.

"We'll hold a proper burial in the morning. Everyone's tired, and a few were badly wounded. But.. they'll make it through."

"I see that's great." She answers nicely. "I was simply curious." She says. "Were you born here, Miss Mari?"
